Los Angeles based Tigran Mkhitaryan, more commonly known as Mimosa, recently let loose news that he would be embarking on an United States tour, entitled the Event Horizon Tour 2013. The month-long venture kicked off in Wilmington, North Carolina, and concludes, in Denver, Colorado, as the self-defined “Future Trill” artist plans to craft the type of electrifying set that earned him a spot on SPIN‘s list for the “Top 10 Acts at Bonnaroo of 2012.” Mimosa is no stranger to large-scale performances, and experience under his belt from a number of impressive festivals, including the Northern Californian escapist festival known as Coachella, and the ever stunning Bayfront Park in Miami for Ultra Music Festival, certainly show that Tigran has developed a unique performance style that has both promoters and fans begging for more. Tickets are on sale now via Mimosa’s site.
Appropriately, Mimosa also released a brand new track to coincide with the beginning of his tour, appropriately titled “Event Horizon.” The track begins gently with a simple drum pattern that does absolutely nothing to prepare the listener for the bass that will make trap fans around the world throw their elbows up. Showing off stylistic differences in his music, Mimosa also plays a juggling game with the drum line to create a section of the song that feels far and away from trap, proving to the listener that the multi-talented Tigran’s latest release is more than worth the free download.

Previously known for his part alongside Australian trio Those Usual Suspects, Maarcos breaks away with a little help from Phazing head honcho Dirty South to unveil his first solo stint for the label. A staple track to the likes of Dirty South’s Essential Mix and Ultra Music Festival set, “Blaze” is a lead driven masterpiece laced with the melodic hallmarks that have sent Phazing towards the industrious grandeur that now surrounds them. For this daring first leap towards solo stature, a little help from Dragran himself seals a solid starting point for the young talent on this next chapter of his club facing escapades. (more…)
After spending two days in Split at Poljud Stadium, Ultra Europe festival-goers hopped aboard catamarans in the early morning to make the hour long trip to the Island of Hvar. Tucked away in the deep azure waters of the Adriatic Sea, Hvar acted as the perfect backdrop for the culmination of Europe’s inaugural Ultra. At Amfora Resort on the tip of the island, Brass Knuckles, Cazzette, Nervo, Dada Life, Chuckie and Steve Aoki manned a DJ booth elevated between the sea and an infinity pool for what became the best pool party… ever. Sorry Vegas, but we’ve fallen in love.

Having recently unveiled 3lau & Paris & Simo’s vocal anthem “Escape,” Hardwell’s Revealed Recordings imprint unleashes yet another hotly tipped ID from Hardwell’s landmark UMF set, spicing up the equation with some hip-hop collateral along the way. Last found representing Hysteria alongside Moti for “NaNaNa,” Alvaro helps inaugurate French peer Mercer to the label alongside Lil Jon — a man who needs little introduction where party-primed word play is concerned. “Welcome to the Jungle” fuses typical Dutch synth work and chugging electro house with considerable force, using Lil Jon’s East-side charm to seal an immediately imitable drop that is unlikely to go ignored throughout what’s left of the summer festival season. For Revealed, the track marks yet another notch in their peak time armory that excels their top form for 2013. (more…)
There’s Ultra in Downtown Miami and an Ultra in Korea, there’s going to be Ultra Europe in Split, Croatia, and now it seems the Ultra brand will be taking their event production talents down under in the coming year. Stoney Roads caught a tweet between a fan and the UMF TV Twitter handle from over the weekend that seems to confirm the festival’s presence in Australia in 2014. Although the specific tweet has since been deleted, it’s hard to argue that UMF would have said this in a public forum without a pretty heavy dose of certainty.
The Bingo Players’ Hysteria Records imprint has solidifed itself upon the peak time skyline of late, its latest offering from Dutch house mogul Alvaro and national peer Moti being no exception. Following-up on his UMF anthem “United” alongside Tiësto and Quintino and in the wake of the Bingo’s own “Buzzcut,” “NaNaNa” plays with the infectious property that its apt title would suggest. A definitive Dutch festival anthem rife with piercing leads and immediately imitable sample work, Alvaro and his rising peer up-the-ante with a heavy-footed club banger that does exactly what it says on the tin with unapologetic force. From affirmative festival action to landmark digital releases, young Dutch heavyweight Hardwell has taken no prisoners for 2013. Off the back of a landmark spree for his own Revealed Recordings imprint, volume four of his Hardwell Presents Revealed compilation series looks to up-the-ante in the name of cutting-edge talent with a festival proof focus on the summer clubbing horizon. The album features the cream of Corput’s hand-picked crop of European talents, whilst picking up on landmark anthems such as “Never Say Goodbye” and Hardwell’s own remix of Krewella’s “Alive” to show both sides of the industry coin the European heavyweight now overlooks. In the same vein as his landmark set at UMF, eight exclusive label cuts and a series of off-the-cuff mash-ups combine to make volume four an essential insight into the young and restless exuberance now associated with both label and artist alike. This compilation will be available on Beatport on June 21st, and Hardwell will be celebrating its launch in Vegas the night before at the brand new Hakkasan in MGM Grand. (more…)
After early bird tickets sold out in record time and the advance tickets disappeared in a snap, hopeful Ultra Music Festival attendees were stuck with a ticket price that, for some, was too high to justify at $399.00 plus tax and fees. The public outrage resonated with the iconic music festival and Ultra has made an official statement today explaining the need for the price hike – promising that Ultra 2014 will be even bigger, and even better than its 15th anniversary. Ultra also plans to instate a “Fan Experience Committee” comprising of team members, artists and fans to ensure attendees are involved in Ultra 2014′s formation.
