Hip-hop remixes are often hit or miss, but Masuka’s remix of N.A.S.A.’s “Gifted” has been one of our favorites since it was released a few years ago. He recently shared a VIP (variation in production) of the track, giving us a new way to listen to an old favorite. This version is more mellow and less dubby than the first — featuring chopped and screwed vocals and stuttering beats. We’re partial to his initial remix but not by much. Let us know which version you prefer in the comments.
As a holiday treat for his adoring fans, Seven Lions has given away his ‘Deep Mix’ of “Isis” for free. The original mix of “Isis” was part of Seven Lion’s debut Polarized EP back in April. With its haunting choral voices and ethnic wind instruments, “Isis” is undoubtedly one of Seven Lions’ most unique dubstep productions to date. The ‘Deep Mix’ of “Isis” has pervaded many of Seven Lions’ live sets for some time now. In contrast to the original, the ‘Deep Mix’ VIP, or variation in production, employs an entirely new second drop. The enveloping, masterfully-layered second drop of the ‘Deep Mix’ is further evidence of Seven Lions’ deft ability to create ethereal, dreamlike soundscapes. Pick up the ‘Deep Mix’ of “Isis” for free from SoundCloud.

Datsik went on a trap binge this weekend, reinventing the womps and wobbles of two of his original songs: “Swagga” and “Bonafide Hustler.” “Swagga” has been getting play time during his Firepower tour and live videos from the event indicate that the reaction has been appropriately massive. While many of Datsik’s productions are too hard for this dubstep weakling, these trap remixes feel fine when banging down my eardrums. Both tracks are available for a free download.
Pacha is continuing its birthday celebrations with another huge show: Fedde Le Grand is coming to the NYC hotspot this Friday, and bringing incredible up-and-comer Deniz Koyu with him. Dancing Astronaut wants you to be a part of the fun, so we’re giving away another pair of VIP tickets… but we’re also throwing in a meet-and-greet with Fedde himself and a DA/Pacha prize pack. We know you want to be there when Fedde turns Pacha into “Paradise” and Deniz gets “Dangerous” behind the decks, so enter now! We’ll pick a winner on Thursday at 6pm EST.
