If you’re looking to dance, party, and celebrate Memorial Day Weekend like a rockstar — or better yet, EDM star — there’s no better destination than Las Vegas. While brand new nightlife venues opened for their inaugural seasons, Vegas’ mainstay and hottest electronic commodity, XS, opened doors like it was business as usual. Between weekend bookend sets from Avicii and Steve Angello, David Guetta and his once-upon-a-time understudy, Afrojack, both took the decks of XS last Saturday to deliver their sets as they gear up for the summer. Listen to both and follow along with the tracklists below the break.
While new clubs Hakkasan and Light rack up residents for their opening seasons, Las Vegas’s mainstay day and night venues at the Wynn have enlisted Above & Beyond for this summer’s festivities. The trance group will bring their Group Therapy movement to nightclubs XS and Surrender as well as Encore Beach Club. Spanning May, June, and July, Above & Beyond take their rare act to Sin City for a seven-event showcase.

2012 was a huge year for dance music, championed by the every growing club scene in Las Vegas, an influx of national tours and festivals and the undeniable mainstream acceptance of the “EDM” sound. Only a week into the new year and 2013 is already proving to be an even bigger one for our beloved genre – made abundantly clear today as the Wynn properties (Encore Beach Club, Surrender, Tryst, XS) have just announced their expansive residency roster for the upcoming year. From Bassnectar to David Guetta, Avicii to Loco Dice, Wynn’s extensive cadre of nightclubs have the sounds to satisfy the full spectrum of electronic music fans.
Managing partner of XS, Jesse Waits, had this to say;
“Our team has worked day and night to present an unrivaled roster of residencies again in 2013 including both major headliners and the DJs we believe to be the next superstars of this genre. We hope to maintain our reputation as the mecca of dance music through these exclusive partnerships.”

Deniz Koyu wants to take you on a road trip from Los Angeles to his show at XS in Las Vegas on December 28, 2012. But that’s not all: notorious party photographer Kirill Was Here is coming along for the ride. The road trip starts in Los Angeles on December 28 where a luxury tour bus will bring you and 5 other lucky winners through the desert to the city of Sin; Las Vegas, Nevada. Upon arriving in Vegas the party continues at XS Nightclub where a VIP table will be waiting for you while Deniz Koyu performs for a packed house. Afterwards you will be brought back to your suite for the after party – but don’t expect to get much sleep – not with Kirill and his camera hanging around. The following morning the tour bus will escort you back to Los Angeles – bleary-eyed and sleep-deprived.

Deadmau5 tunes are recognizable from a mile away, but we aren’t going to focus on the “Strobes” and “The Veldt’s” of the world. What Joel brings to the table is his impeccable ear, he crafts his sets just as he crafts his productions – meticulously. During an unplugged set, his song selection is always interesting, running the entire gamut of Deadmau5′s prolific back catalog as well as tunes from every genre. This night was no different. Although some clubgoers may have expected more mainstream fare their confusion was soon muted as Joel took control of the club with his uncanny ability for building suspense – driving the dancefloor with a steady beat instead of big builds and deep drops. Read on for a few of the tunes that defined the night.
