Canadian duo Adventure Club have released their long-awaited first official EP today on iTunes. In line with their running superhero theme, the EP is appropriately titled Calling All Heroes, Pt. 1 and features four full-length original productions. Despite the group’s fame for melodic and unique remixes of Flight Facilities’ “Crave You” and Brand New’s “Daisy,” Adventure Club have mastered originals of their own with signature combinations of bass heavy beats and captivating vocalists. Calling All Heroes, Pt. 1 features four tracks: “Gold,” “Wonder,” “Crash,” and “Thunderclap.” After two years of remixes, traveling the world, and headlining worldwide festivals, Adventure Club’s debut EP has already hit the number one spot on the iTunes Dance Music chart and is just the first of a two-part release with more to come.
With one of their first originals in nearly a year, Montreal bass music duo Adventure Club returns with a vocal-driven dubstep tune in typically melodic fashion. After remixing Yuna’s serene single “Lullabies,” Adventure Club has recruited the Malaysian songstress for their newest collaborative effort, “Gold.” While their productions have dabbled in dirtier bass music territory, “Gold” is a return to the soft sonic style that put them on the map.
With the title “Gold,” it’s easy to draw a comparison a to their remix of “Crave You” (“I walk into the room dripping in gold”), their biggest song to date. Yuna’s repeating message “stay gold” can also be construed as an allusion to iconic quote from The Outsiders, “Stay gold, Ponyboy, stay gold.” Intertextuality aside, Adventure Club’s newest tune is as blissful as ever, and will be released on September 17th.
Montreal dubstep duo Adventure Club have an undeniable penchant for selecting soulful, emotive vocals (see “Need Your Heart,” “Rise & Fall,” and “Wait”). In combination with their soft, reverb-laden piano work and melody-driven approach to dubstep, Adventure Club have successfully crafted their own brand of beautiful bass music. Their newest remix of “Lullabies” by Yuna is a testament to this fact. The beginning seconds are visceral and nostalgic, drawing you in before the swirling, growling bass consumes you. Progressive prodigy, Jakob Liedholm teams up with DJ Carnage to create this filter heavy remix of Yuna’s “Live Your Life.” We’ve featured Jakob before on his track “Never Again” and it’s great to see that his style is maturing and developing. All the usual suspects are here, gorgeous vocals, elegant melodies, stuttering kicks and an energetic breakdown. For those of you who can’t get enough progressive house, Jakob and Carnage are giving away the track for free, so be sure to add it to your pre-EDC playlists — hopefully we will see some of you on Kinetic Field.
